Why I use CC-BY-ND for this blog

19 Jun 2015

I believe in software freedom. I also believe that generally useful information which isn't software should be distributed in such a way that empowers communities and individuals.

But I don't believe that personal opinions are the same as computer software (like a computer spreadsheet) or generally useful information (like a do-it-yourself manual for fixing your own plumbing). Software runs the same on every equivalent computer. Computers are not unique; one loaded with the same software is as good as another. This isn't true of people because people are unique. These unique personal opinions of people matter and deserve to be heard and preserved as a unique representation of an unique individual; a human voice. To reflect this, I will be moving my personal blog from CC-BY-SA to a BY-ND license.
